The Counts of Pierreclos
In the 18th century, the château belonged to the Michon family, who wanted to renovate it in the style of Parisian private residences.
Aimé-Gabriel Michon de Pierreclos was inspired by the decor of Versailles and wanted a room listed in the inventories as “wooded”, i.e. with full-height panelling and a parquet floor with noble wood and star motifs. This room is sometimes referred to as the “Golden Room”, which suggests that the woodwork was once embellished with gilt.
The rooms are part of the Esprit de France and Bienvenue au Château networks.
